On May 24th, I’ll be showing work at Theaterworks Gallery in association with the opening performance of Tanya Saracho’s “Fade”. As I’ve been focused on other projects, this is the first exhibition of my work in a few years and I think it’s also first solo show. I spent the day on a ladder installing the pieces with a staple gun and many, many rolls of masking tape and white gaffers tape. The title wall will be installed tomorrow: “This Time is Kinda Like the Last Time.” You can see thoughts on this title on the Monologue page of this site.
A few years ago, as part of my exhibit at the 8×8 show in Simsbury, I had set up a “Photo Booth” in the closet. I captured several dozen portraits that night. I’ll be doing the same at the opening tomorrow. The difference is this: we’ll host a deinstallation reception for the Theaterworks show—if I took your portrait at the opening, come back to the deinstallation and receive a full-size printout of your image. So: come on over for art and stay for the experience.
